Beta Delta Mu Alpha Chapter recognized by South Dakota Board of Regents
In April 2024, the South Dakota Board of Regents approved a recommendation offered by South Dakota School of Mines and Technology to award Beta Delta Mu with the 2023 SDSMT Award for Community Service. The award was presented, along with other SDSMT Student Organization Awards at the December 2024 Board of Regents meeting in Spearfish, SD.Beta Delta Mu was recognized for the organization's focus on compassion, connectivity, and integrity. The nomination specifically cited these values.
"These values are demonstrated through connecting with and assisting people within the Rapid City community in need. Since BDM is a women's STEM sorority, the focus is first on women-led organizations or organizations which directly benefit women. The chapter believes the best way to advance the world forward is helping women in all areas and ages of life. They are committed to showing that South Dakota Mines has a positive effect on the Rapid City community. Every small event can make a difference in somebody's life."
"The Board recognizes the important role that student organizations play in the Regental system. Student organizations provide students the opportunity to connect with others who have similar interests as well as experience a sense of community, all of which increases the likelihood of successful college completion. They also provide students with opportunities for professional development by offering practical opportunities to hone skills, including those in leadership and communication."
