Goals of the KAAA
The goals and policies of KAAA are set forth in detail in Article I of the Association’s Constitution. Broadly, however, the Association seeks to foster its constitutional purposes, and provide a common meeting ground for hearing officials to:
(a) Promote professionalism and integrity in administrative law;
(b) Sponsor meetings and conferences to advance the continuing education of members;
(c) Provide a forum to exchange ideas between members and recognized authorities in administrative law;
(d) Study and advance hearing procedures and techniques;
(e) Provide members training in skills and techniques to conduct fair and impartial hearings;
(f) Keep members apprised of case decisions, legislation, and developments in administrative law;
(g) Study and recommend improved procedures, techniques and technologies to better serve the public;
(h) Interact with the public to discuss and explain the administrative law process;
(i) Furnish and exchange information among members and governmental agencies;
(j) Promote build ties to the judiciary, legal community, and other professions;
(k) Cooperate with other judicial, quasi-judicial, or legal associations to address problems in administrative law;
(l) Establish a code of ethics;
(m) Obtain information and materials for members’ continuing education that qualify for educational credit by bar associations or any authorized continuing legal education program and;.
(n) Engage in other activities to further the Association’s objectives.
KAAA Policies and Limitations
The following are the basic policies of the Association:
(a) To remain a corporation exempt from federal income taxation, permitted under the law to take tax deductible contributions.
(b) To avoid connection with commercial interests by not allowing its name or its members’ names in their official capacity to be used in connection with a commercial concern or with any partisan interest, or for any purpose not related to promoting the Association’s purposes and objectives.
(c) To keep and spend the Association’s net earnings for the furtherance of the Association’s purposes.
(d) To remain neutral on legislation and political campaigns and so refrain from attempting to influence legislation, or participating in any political campaign on the behalf of any candidate for public office.
(e) To remain strictly non-partisan in political matters except the Association may comment on the qualifications of individuals seeking judicial appointment or election if approved by a majority of the members.
