Sherwood Forest Civic Association

Dear Neighbors,

Peak summer in Sherwood Forest is here! Afternoon rain showers moderate the temperature most days. Dog walkers adjust their schedules to hit the golden hour. Now is the time to raid that summer reading list – please send us suggestions to share! We dropped one at the end of the email.

Last month’s picnic was a tremendous success based on the amount of food left. The sombreros were out and fajitas were devoured. Cari and RJ orchestrated a block party that weaved and bobbed multiple weekends and numerous rain clouds. Bravo! Below are pictures from the festivity. Thank you all who made it!

Events:

There’s a new club in the neighborhood and you’re invited! The Inaugural Quarterly Cocktail Club graciously hosted by Mark and Keeli Blount - 1716 Friar Tuck Rd NE - on Sunday, August 3rd 5:00 - 7:00 pm - RSVP here.

Items of Note:

Earlier this week, you hopefully received a detailed email from Mike Grill on the Land Use and Variance Appeal - please join several neighbors on August 5th at 11:00 a.m. at the Fulton County Courthouse to dispute the suggested change. Contact Michael directly at michaeljgrill@att.net for questions or clarifications.

The Membership Directory will be printed and distributed at the Fall Meeting - be sure to update your information via the website. Sponsorships are now available and in discussion.

New security signs and stickers to be distributed at the Fall meeting as well.

History Time:

Sherwood Forest has been a “hidden jewel” for quite some time. We dug up an AJC article from 1991 that has past SFCA President and fellow neighbor, Henry Bauer quoted. Enjoy this read from over 34 years ago!

Summer Reading Suggestion:

And as for summer reading suggestions, a local author, Josh Green just released a new book titled Goodbye, Sweetberry Park. The novel takes place in Atlanta and includes themes around gentrification and development wrapped in a thriller.

Have any books you want to suggest to the neighborhood, please send them our way, we’ll put them in the next newsletter!
