VRWA advocates for policies that support the sustainability, affordability, and reliability of drinking water and wastewater systems serving Virginia’s communities. Our policy priorities reflect the needs and challenges of our member systems.

VRWA’s Policy Priorities

VRWA supports policies that:

  • Promote sustainable funding for water and wastewater infrastructure
  • Recognize the unique challenges of rural and small systems
  • Support workforce development, training, and operator certification
  • Encourage practical, achievable regulatory requirements
  • Protect source water and environmental quality
  • Strengthen emergency preparedness and system resilience

How These Priorities Are Developed:

VRWA's policy priorities are informed by member input, board leadership, and collaboration with state and national partners. Advocacy in Action VRWA works to communicate these priorities through education, partnerships, and engagement with decision-makers to ensure member voices are represented.
